On Thursday morning I'm heading to East London for the start of the Mini vs Maxi Adventure across the Eastern Cape which takes the form of a four day road trip around the province. Usually when we go on holiday as a family we also do it road trip style as we are campers and have to lug along everything in the trailer. I'm one of those who believe that the journey is as important as the destination, so setting off before sunrise to have more time to explore along the way is nothing strange.
The kids have gotten used to me pulling over at every opportunity to take a photo of a nice landscape or something next to the road, as I did in this photo somewhere in the Karoo.
The other thing I believe in is to not just sit around the camp site or accommodation establishment while on holiday, but to explore the area thoroughly, doesn't matter if it involves dirt roads and flooded low water bridges in the Drakensberg ...
... or dusty forest roads around Knysna.
